Edo Kiriko is a traditional Japanese glass-cutting craft that began in the Edo period, 1834. Edo Kiriko is known for its intricate designs and refined craftsmanship.
Edo Kiriko is celebrated for its use of vivid colors and detailed patterns, making each piece unique and full of character. Over 160 years later, Edo Kiriko was officially recognized as a 'Traditional Craft' by the Japanese government in 2002.
The future goal of Edo Kiriko is to develop glass crafts that pursue beauty as well as quality in a time when glass crafts are developing in ways never seen before, and also continue to preserve and develop the traditions.
Master Horiguchi, founder of Horiguchi Kiriko, is a third-generation master in the Shūseki line, dedicated to preserving the art of Edo Kiriko, Japan's traditional glass-cutting craft.
His studio has collaborated with five-star hotels, providing elegant glassware for lobbies, VIP rooms, and bars, and is featured in many high-end Japanese restaurants, showcasing the beauty and precision of each piece.
